Writing messages customers actually open

5 min read

A campaign only works if someone actually reads it. The businesses that get the best response treat every message like it’s coming from a person, not a marketing department.

Timing matters more than wording

Send win-back messages when they’re actually relevant — typically 20-30 days after a customer’s last visit, based on their normal frequency. A message sent too early feels pushy; too late and you’ve already lost them.

Lead with the person, not the promotion

"We miss you, Sarah" outperforms "20% OFF THIS WEEK ONLY" almost every time. Personal framing signals a relationship; all-caps discounts signal a mass blast.

Give one clear reason to come back

Pick a single offer and make it specific — "your usual, on us" beats a generic percentage off. WinCard Intelligence can suggest an offer based on what that customer actually orders.

Keep it short enough to read in five seconds. If it takes longer than that, it’s an email, not a wallet notification.
